I will be leading a ride on New Year's day, starting from Costa, Bradley Stoke at the usual time ie 10 am. Putting the finishing to the route at the mo but can tell you we'll be heading for Nailsworth and climbing the Ladder, aka the W. Mileage somewhere around 55 miles. Being New Year's day, I expect open cafes may be a little thin on the ground.

If you drop back down into Stroud the Lock keepers "might " be open if not thee is one in Stroud that seems to be always open up by peacocks ,We have been there before bikes can go down the side of the post office like last time.
I will have a check and let you know might even come out and attack the W for the first time in 2016.

I'd like to call in at Stroud and Stonehouse Scott but it would add another 10 miles to the route which I've tried to keep in the low 50's so we finish in daylight.

This is the Route

I estimate we'll arrive at Nailsworth sometime around 12 (midday). It would be handy if there was somewhere open here.

DO NOT GO DOWN GYDYNAP LANE at mile 28.5 very dangerous steep wet leafy cattle grid half way down very slippery.
Come back along Watledge lane
There are a couple of places in Nailsworth BUT whether they are open is another question.I will try and found out tomorrow.
You could try http://ridewithgps.com/routes/11630585 As you say is does 10 miles or so thats the only problem Sad

Thanks for the warning Scott, we'll give Gydynap Lane a wide berth, so wide in fact we'll pass through Stroud ! Yeah, had a look at your suggested return route and it only adds another 5 miles and with virtually no more climbing so we'll follow your route after climbing the W. Hope we can meet up prior to attacking the W Smile

Sorry if anyone's already downloaded the route 'cos I'm changing it as per above. New Route

Very Happy
I am (if I can manage it) going to up Frocester What a Face affraid affraid affraid
Then either meet you by mile 21 .or in Nailsworth or If I am really early then I will try and get up the W and meet you at the top to save slowing you down to much!I can then guide you into Stroud.
I will bring a good long padlock if needed.
