PostSubject: 6th December - Last Minute   6th December - Last Minute EmptyMon Dec 05, 2011 12:46 pm

I've got a few days holiday to use up between now and Christmas, starting with a day off tomorrow.
I'm intending on doing a little ride up to Slimbridge (45-50 miles approx from BS Tesco). I'll post up a route today, let me know if you fancy joining in.

Fancy doing it back wards then I might be able to meet you @ Slimbridge and you could draft me up the hills to Wooton and then I could spin off home?

Could do, how about meeting at Berkley, as I was thinking that would be a good coffee/cake stop, or do you have somewhere better in you arsenal of tea-rooms.

There is a cafe in Berkley or the one on the canal at Slimbridge either is fine any idea of rough time ?Slimbridge is about 30 mins for me Berkley 40/50 miles There is also one at Saul canal junction so any of them is ok .But not to early.
We could go anywhere from there As you know I know a few hills around here.

The plan is to leave Tesco at 10, then join up with Scott for some local knowledge (along with coffee and cake).
I'll see you there.

Can't make today but wanted a good Slimbridge route so that will come in handy. Is the climb out of Wotton that nasty one we did a few weeks ago to (on the same ride we did Frocester Hill)?

Well I met the boys at Slimbridge for coffee and Oh my God we needed it and a warm up.It was cold.I took them u a nice new hill Stouts hill according to the sign 12% It goes from Uley to the to of the edge by Wotton .I left Martin and Darren to go down Wotton and home whilst I went the other way down to Stroud and back home.
It was great to have you up this way. It's nice to go up hills with mates that I usually do on my own. That hill is now 2 1 I have been u it three times now and the first two times I had to sto today I made it all the way. Thanks for that Darren ,that's two personal trainers.Darren and Christian. Thanks thanks thanks.

I enjoyed that route, we ended up heading back passing through Swinhay and Tortworth and Tytherington.
I think this route has a chance of a Sunday outing.
Cheers Scott for your local knowledge, thanks Martin for the company.

I think it was about 55 miles, I'll post it up after this Sunday, as not to confuse people.

@Darren
There is a time for that hill we went up!(Stouts Hill)
I will find the start and finish points and let you know along with the time.
Also Frocester has a time as well I will find that out as well.
But be aware.I have been warned that there is a local lad around here who runs u Frocester overtaking riders!

Any chance you can post up the route you did Wednesday? I did Darren's original route yesterday and although on the whole it was OK (and very little climbing) there seemed a lot of main/busy road on the way out to Wotton - don't think it would be suitable for a Sunday ride with a big bunch, although easily adapted to use the parallel running muddy country roads we all enjoy so much :p

Sorry Nick, didn't realise you were heading out this week, here's the slightly more scenic route that we took on Tuesday. This will likely be a Sunday route.

Yeah getting my days mixed up :p The way you came back on that ride is the route I'd normally go - I didn't notice it wasn't that way when I downloaded the original route, at least the roads were nice and clean Wink

If you forget the bit going to Slimbridge and where I came back home from the top of Stouts hill this was the bit we used to get up to the top.
