| As previously mentioned elsewhere on the forum, I shall be leading a ride that takes in "The Tumble", a climb that is part of the Velothon Wales route so it's an ideal opportunity to get a trial run in. Officially the climb is 6 km / 3.7 miles long with an average gradient of 10% although, with help from Ride With GPS, I reckon it's average gradient is nearer 7%, maxing at 12% over a 350 yard stretch. Once you've reached the summit you can look forward to roughly 27 km / 17 miles of downhill The length of the ride (not the Velothon) is just shy of 81 miles with something in the region of 5,135 ft of climbing. There will be two planned refreshment stops, the first will be at the Oasis Snack Bar in Abergavenny (mile 35), the second will be at the Number 49 cafe in Usk. The ride starts at 0830 hrs from Costa, Bradley Stoke (BS32 8BS) The Route |

| Just us 3 again, like last Bank holiday?! (Actually we did pick up someone else on route ...) Planning to turn this into my first century ride of the year, and know I'll never feel like adding miles afterwards, so will be setting off around 07:15, aiming to get to BS Costa for half 8, but if the wind is against and as strong as forecast, may be late ... I'll have the route so head off if you need and I'll catch up somewhere | |

Id have done about 94 by the time I get home so I'll spin round the block a few times I reckon! | |

| Hi, I've just finished negotiations with my gf and traded next weekend's Sunday ride for this one so I'll join in tomorrow as well. Looks like we are going to have train most of the way sadly. See you tomorrow morning. | |

| Robin - noted. See you at some point tomorrow. Andy - after we cross the Severn Bridge on the return leg, we could take a slight detour out to Pilning that would add 7 flat miles to the route. We can decide whether or not to take it on the day. Extra 7 MilesCarlhenrik - glad you can make it though not sure what you mean by 'train most of the way, sadly'. See you in the morning. Remember, 0830 start from Bradley Stoke. If anyone is running late in the morning, text me and we'll hang on for you. Robin and Carlhenrik, I've pm'd you for phone numbers. |
