| If you have the route then just post the link to the route on something like RWGPS or Map my ride etc and we can down load it from there. | |

| Right it's a 09.30 start from Aztec so as we have to sign on etc. Shall we meet at Costa and be away from there at 09.00 which should give us time to wander up and sign on.
I have feling that our nice Mr.M has a gpx for the route as well so if some one could do the posting I would be grateful. The link in the original post is showing an empty dropbox.:-(

An audax is where you follow a route normally printed on a card or sheet of paper. Along the route will be certain checkpoints where you get your card stamped. At the end of the ride you can hand your card in (if you want to) to be checked and it gets sent back to you in the post. Good thing is that these days you can upload the routes to your garmin device. Sportives on the other hand are generally sign posted and marshalled whereas audax you find your own way around. There's plenty of you so you wont get lost.

The CTC would never even consider 100km ... :) Defo no signs though ... and the printed sheet is handy when the Garmin goes pete tong |

| It's not supposed to be a treasure hunt. Audax is not a race so much, but there is a minimum and maximum speed within which you are to complete the ride, this saturdays ride have a min and max of 15-30 kph, we're all capable of sustaining an average speed above 15kph. Turn off the auto pause feature on your gps if you want to monitor your average speed on this event. You will be given a card at the start called a 'brevet' which is used when you pass control points to prove you've complete the ride. Some control points will require 'information' which will usually ask something about a feature along the ride, like how many miles to a town on a road sign or something like that. Control points may also provide an opportunity to eat cake! | |
