Saturday 12th October - 100 miler!

A few of us were talking recently about getting another 100 mile ride in so here we go. It's long but most of the hard work is done in the first 30 miles so if you haven't tried a century ride before then this could be your opportunity. If you can manage 50-60 miles already then you should be able to do this without too much trouble so long as the pace is steady and you are well fed and hydrated during the ride.


Plan to leave the start point @ 8.00am

Cafe stop 1: Waterfall Restaurant, Cheddar

Cafe stop 2: Bay View Cafe, Burnham on Sea

Cafe stop 3: Strawberry Line Cafe, Yatton

I might break my own rules here and come along to slow you all down!

I think you could get away with calling that a recovery ride  

I could do the Shirenewton/Tintern on the Sunday thats only a short one!

That's the day before the Wales Velodrome trip, unfortunately. (Fortunately?)

That final hill looks like it would kill me. Lol. I'd definitely be interested in doing a 100 mile ride sometime though!

Providing my training over the next two weeks goes to plan I shall be ready for this one

We did rain on the last 100 miler so you should be used to it by now

Good point!

Definitely up for this, route nearly goes by where I used to live near Cheddar as well.  Should be good training for the 100 mile Exmoor beast ride the week after, especially going up the Mendips
Weather is set to be warm for the first few weeks of Oct so lets hope it stays in double figures!

I'm happy to accept an alternative hill.

no way jose ... haven't ridden that bugger in years looking forward to it :)

looks a great ride, I think Im off that day so will be great to join.

Harptree has pretty poor surface about 3/4 way up and it gets near 15% in places, although I saw some roadworks were taking place up there recently. Pretty good way to get to Cheddar 'quickly' though. Im looking forward, great idea Mark

I'm in! seem to remember it was 30miles of the wet stuff last time so will be keeping an eye on the weather leading up cos I always get it right!!!

Think I may put my mudguards on for this one. It is autumn.

Cant say no to a 100 miler. I will meet you at warmley on the cycle track.

A mate of mine is considering joining the club and he said he may tag along for this one as well.

Hi guys I'm hoping to get out for this ride although I'm working on Friday nite so hoping for a quiet nite. Where is the official start location? I will be leaving Southmead fire station. I know there is a group meeting at willy wicket.
